Dr. Yasir Farooq
Islamic Scholar | Researcher | Educator

Welcome !

I am Dr. Yasir Farooq, a dedicated scholar specializing in Asian Islam & Studies with a focus on Quran Sciences, Hadith sciences, Islamic jurisprudence, and the socio-religious history of Muslim communities, particularly in the Indian Subcontinent. My work is driven by a passion for deepening the understanding of Islam’s rich intellectual heritage and its relevance in addressing contemporary global challenges.

I hold a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies from the University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan with a specialization in Sciences of Hadith in the Indian Subcontinent. I currently serve as a Lecturer in the Department of Islamic Studies at Ghazi University, Dera Ghazi Khan, Pakistan, where I teach and mentor both undergraduate and graduate students. In my academic career, I have supervised numerous M.Phil. and Ph.D. theses, providing guidance to the next generation of Islamic scholars.

Academic Contributions:
With over three dozen research papers published in national and international journals, and sixteen authored reference & syllabus books, I have made significant contributions to the fields of Qur’anic exegesis, Hadith studies, Islamic jurisprudence, and interfaith relations. My publications cover a wide range of topics, from the intricacies of Quranic & Hadith Studies, and Islamic law to the historical development of Hadith sciences and the role of Muslim women in society. I have been recognized with multiple awards, including the prestigious National Seerah Award in 2022 and 2024, for my work on the life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and its application in modern contexts.

My research focuses on analyzing classical Islamic texts and interpreting them in the light of contemporary issues, including modern ethics, interfaith harmony, and the challenges faced by Muslim societies today. I am deeply committed to promoting inclusive Islamic scholarship that is accessible to diverse audiences, bridging the gap between traditional Islamic thought and modern academic inquiry.

Teaching Philosophy and Approach:
In my teaching, I emphasize a holistic understanding of Islam—not just as a set of beliefs but as a lived experience that shapes individual and societal identities. I encourage students to engage with primary Islamic texts, such as the Qur’an and Hadith, in their original languages (Arabic, Urdu, and English) and to explore how these texts inform practices such as devotion, ethics, and spirituality.

I am also the Founder/developer of www.Islamiatguide.com, a platform designed to provide high-quality educational resources for students of Islamic Studies. The website offers study materials, MCQs, and past papers to support learners at various academic levels, especially those preparing for competitive exams. This initiative reflects my broader commitment to making Islamic education accessible to all, particularly students from underrepresented communities.

International Engagement:
My academic journey has taken me beyond Pakistan, with invitations to present papers at international conferences in countries such as Germany, India, and Turkiye. These experiences have enriched my scholarship and allowed me to engage with global academic networks, furthering the cross-cultural exchange of Islamic thought. My research on topics like interfaith dialogue, Islamic ethics, and Qur’anic interpretation has resonated with scholars across various disciplines and geographic regions.

Editorial and Research Journal Management:
In addition to my teaching and research roles, I serve as the Executive & Managing Editor of the AL-Āfāq Islamic Research Journal and the founding editor of the Journal of Religious and Social Studies. Through these editorial positions, I aim to elevate scholarly discourse in Islamic Studies and ensure that diverse perspectives are represented in academic publishing. My editorial work reflects my commitment to maintaining high standards in Islamic research and contributing to the development of Islamic thought at a global level.

Looking Forward:
As a scholar, educator, and researcher, I am continuously exploring new ways to contribute to Islamic scholarship and expand access to knowledge. Whether through my research, teaching, or online platforms, my goal remains to provide valuable insights into Islamic traditions and help shape an informed, compassionate, and inclusive understanding of Islam in the modern world.
